Be a lifelong learner
Nobody jumps straight into an Architect role. It’s near certain you’ve moved from another role, possibly quite different. There’s less technical churn in the Architecture role compared to say development. However there are still things to learn and that will remain forever true.
Hopefully you’ll have personal projects which will necessitate learning new technologies and techniques. If you don’t, cultivate that desire. Spend some time ‘on the tools’. Developing software using new technologies. Explore using AWS and Azure to setup a home for your projects. I’m conscious this commentary reflects a developer mindset that not everyone will want or is able to embrace. However I cannot recommend enough having hands on development expertise.
